speech and language
technology is one of research directions in the national laboratory of
pattern recognition (nlpr). now the research group of speech and language
technology focuses on the fundamental problems and key techniques in the
area of human language technology, and tries to make great contributions on
the theoretical modeling, application system developing, and large scale
corpus base building. the major activities include the following aspects:
(1) machine translation; (2) information retrieval and extraction; (3) text
mining; (4) speech recognition; (5) speech synthesis; (6) computational
auditory scene analysis; (7) affective computing; and (8) multimedia
integration.
currently, there are 5 faculty members, 23 ph.d. candidates, and 14
postgraduates working with the speech and language technology. now we are
taking charge of six projects supported by nsf, four projects supported by
the national high-technology (863) program of china, one sub-task of 973
project, one project supported by beijing nsf, one project supported by the
national key technology r&d program, and some projects in international
cooperation as well.
